SDSU-IVC students who have applied, or have been accepted, to participate in a study abroad program outside the United States are encouraged to apply for the Associated Students at SDSU-IVC Study Abroad Scholarship. Students who will be conducting research outside the United States are eligible to receive the scholarship. Students who will be studying or conducting research in a U.S. territory also are eligible to apply. Application materials will be reviewed by a committee composed primarily of current SDSU students, with an Associated Students staff member serving as the scholarship committee chairperson.
Applications are accepted for the Associated Students at SDSU-IVC Study Abroad Scholarship during two distinct application periods each year, once during the fall and once during the spring. Students who plan to participate in a study abroad program during the winter recess or the subsequent spring semester will submit their applications during the fall application period. Students who plan to participate in a study abroad program during the summer or the subsequent fall semester will submit their applications during the spring application period.

All Independent Scholarships require the submission of an online application and a response to an essay topic or question(s). An Independent Scholarship may also require the submission of additional application materials, such as a letter of recommendation or a resume (see ESSAY and ADDITIONAL APPLICATION MATERIALS at the end of Application Requirements). |
E mail and fax submissions of additional application materials will not be accepted. Mailed additional application materials must be postmarked by the deadline date. Late and incomplete submissions will not be accepted.
Scholarships with an application period of August through October are awarded for the current academic year. All others, unless noted, are awarded for the next academic year. To receive the funds, you must be enrolled at SDSU during the academic year for which the scholarship was awarded.
APPLICATION: You must submit a separate application for each SDSU scholarship for which you want to be considered.
ADDITIONAL APPLICATION MATERIALS: By the deadline, submit to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships the following materials:
ESSAY: Please submit an essay of no more than 500 words describing what your study abroad program will be and how it will enhance your education and advance your long-term goals.

-Recipients must be Imperial Valley Campus students
-Recipients must be studying abroad during the term(s) for which the scholarship is awarded
-Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation, a resume, and a travel waiver
-Recipients must participate in a study abroad program outside the United States and its territories during the academic term in which scholarship funds are disbursed
-Students who will graduate prior to the academic term in which they participate in a study abroad program are not eligible
-Application materials will be reviewed by a committee composed primarily of current SDSU-IVC students, with an Associated Students staff member serving as the scholarship committee chairperson
-Preference will be given to applicants participating in an SDSU-sponsored study abroad program
-Preference will be given to applicants participating in study abroad programs that award academic credit
-Preference will be given to applicants who are pursuing majors or participating in academic programs that require participation in a study abroad program
-Students may receive the scholarship no more than once per academic year
-Students who will travel during Summer 2017 or Fall 2017 are eligible to apply during the spring application cycle
-Students are not required to be enrolled during the term in which they receive the scholarship
