Program Dates for Freshman Students

Not all colleges and majors are represented on all orientation dates. Once in the registration system you will be able to choose from ONLY the dates still available for your major. DO NOT make travel arrangements before you have reserved your space for new student orientation. If you can travel to San Diego only once for any SDSU event, please attend New Student Orientation in July.

See the list of majors if you are not sure which college your major falls under.

Special Program Dates

Summer Bridge Students:
If you applied for the EOP BEST Summer Bridge Program, sign up for any available date in your college. If you are admitted to the program, your orientation date will automatically be moved to Saturday, July 22, 2017. An e-mail confirmation will be sent to you when your date is changed.

Service Area Summer Admits:
If you have been admitted to FAST (Freshman Academic Success Track) and are required to attend classes on the SDSU campus during the summer, you must register for orientation beginning May 11, 2017 at 10 am (PST). Your orientation date will be Saturday, July 22, 2017.

Freshman International Students:
If you have been admitted as a new international student, you should plan to arrive to San Diego by Sunday, August 20. You must attend immigration check-in on Monday, August 21, 2017 at the International Student Center and new international student orientation on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Please visit the International Student Center website for details on preparing for your arrival and attending new student orientation.

College of Arts and Letters

1 Arts and Letters: On the dates with this superscript, only Comparative Literature, Economics, English, History, International Business, International Security and Conflict Resolution, Political Science, Social Science, and Sociology will be represented.

2 Arts and Letters: On the dates with this superscript, only small majors will be represented. This includes: Africana Studies, American Indian Studies, Anthropology, Asian Studies, Chicana and Chicano Studies, Classics, Comparative International Studies, European Studies, French, Geography, German, Humanities, Japanese, Latin American Studies, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Studies, Linguistics, Modern Jewish Studies, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Rhetoric and Writing Studies, Russian, Russian and Central European Studies, Spanish, Sustainability, Urban Studies, and Woman’s Studies.

*All majors will be represented on days without a superscript.

Fowler College of Business

College of Education

3 Education: On the dates with this superscript, the Liberal Studies majors will be represented.

4 Education: On the dates with this superscript, the Child and Family Development major will be represented.

College of Engineering

College of Health and Human Services

5 Health and Human Services: On the dates with a superscript, only the School of Exercise and Nutritional Science will be represented (majors: Kinesiology with emphasis in Athletic Training, Fitness Specialist, Physical Education, and Pre-Physical Therapy; and Foods and Nutrition.)

*All majors will be represented on days without a superscript.

College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts

6 Professional Studies and Fine Arts: On the dates with this superscript, only majors in the School of Communication, School of Journalism and Media Studies, and School of Public Administration will be represented (majors: Communication, Health Communication, Journalism, Journalism with an emphasis in Advertising; Journalism with an emphasis in Media Studies; Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations; Public Administration with an emphasis in City Planning; and Criminal Justice.)

7 Professional Studies and Fine Arts: On the dates with this superscript, majors in Television, Theater, and Film will not be represented. All other PSFA majors are represented on these days.

8 Sciences:On the dates with a superscript, only Biology and Psychology majors will be represented.
