Eastern Mediterranean University is a state-trust university located in North Cyprus (www.emu.edu.tr). It is also the largest, oldest and most developed university offering education through the medium of English on the island of Cyprus. It was established in 1979 and over the past thirty years has acquired a solid international reputation. In terms of its student population, its modern facilities, and the quality and diversity of its programs, its growth and accomplishments have been extraordinary. EMU welcomes over 15000 students from 68 different countries and employs more than 1000 academic staff from 36 different countries. EMU is accredited and has memberships from EUA, IAU, ABET, AACSB, FUIW and many more distinguished, internationally recognized associations.
EMU is pleased to offer a complete education experience on a magnificent campus, with a modern library, modern classrooms, computer laboratories with highly efficient computer and internet connections, research labs, research centers, dormitories, student activity center, student clubs, sport complexes, cafeterias and restaurants. Two table d’hot´e restaurants in campus offer 4 different meals for lunch and dinner at a discount price to students. The campus also offers bookstore, health center, Psycological Guidance and Research Center, post office, local banks and ATMs (i.e. HSBC), laundry services, Internet cafes,etc.
Life at EMU is fun. Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities and may join a broad range of social and cultural events in the university. There are numerous student clubs and societies at EMU for a wide range of activities including tennis, basketball, volleyball, football, handball, cricket, climbing, chess, ceramics, journalism, art, science and culture, literature, folklore, drama and animation, music, cinema, photography and many more. Also, every year EMU organizes a week-long International ‘Spring Festival’ which includes all kinds of social, cultural and sport activities. Moreover, the student cinema club holds film shows every week. The EMU Radio and TV station is run by students, and broadcasts musical and cultural programs.
Established in 1979, Eastern Mediterranean University offers programs fully recognized by Council of Higher Education in Turkey. Having completed its physical infrastructure, the campus spreads over an area of 2200 acres. The University owns unprecedented campus facilities, and creates a multicultural environment with students coming from 68 countries and highly qualified faculty members from 35 different nations. All the courses are given in English. In order to succeed in the Semester or Academic Year Program, students are required to have an intermediate level of English. Students who need to boost their level of English will go to English Preparatory School, which is located in the campus, for a semester or a year. We believe that staying in a dormitory where all types of technological, cultural and sportive facilities are offered under campus safety, will be a best start for your academic life.
This will also shorten your adaptation period to the university. Since your personal needs, like cleaning, nutrition, transportation and security will be solved in the best and fastest way, you will be free to focus on your lessons.
The library, sports complexes, cultural activity centers, computer laboratories and all other facilities on the premises of the campus will be at your disposal and within easy reach. You will carry out your education in a safe and peaceful environment, away from traffic, noise and disorder of the city.
